A 30-year-old man from Amaveni suburb in Kwekwe who fatally stabbed a fellow drinking mate, barely three days after being released from jail, has appeared before a magistrate facing murder charges.
Ntokozo Ncube was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate, Mr Storey Rushambwa. He was remanded in custody to March 23 and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
The State case against Ncube is that on March 7, he was drinking beer at a nightclub in Amaveni in the company of the now deceased, Mr Simbarashe Ruvingo (28). The court heard that Ncube suddenly produced a knife and stabbed Mr Ruvingo on the collar bone and immediately left the nightclub.
Mr Ruvingo and other revellers followed him outside to inquire the source of the rage, but he took a cab and fled from the scene. Mr Ruvingo staggered and later collapsed on the tarmac a few metres from the nightclub. He died on the scene and the matter was reported to police, leading to Ncube's arrest.
