President Emmerson Mnangagwa's necktie was sold for a whopping $15,000 in a surprise auction at the CEO Africa Round Table in Victoria.
He was later handed over a Donald Trump campaign tie to replace the one that had been auctioned as a symbol of Zimbabwe's re-engagement with the international community.
According to 263Chat, the proceeds of the auction will go towards improving health delivery at the resort town's local hospital.
CEO Africa Round Table Board member, Gary Thompson who was the Master of Ceremony at the event surprisingly asked Mnangagwa to remove his necktie for auctioning.
Thompson asked Mnangagwa to stand up and he asked for the President to take off his scarf 'because it costs a lot of million.' He then surprised Mnangagwa by asking him to take off his necktie and hand it over to him.
"Now with this tie your Excellency, I am not going to ask you to say yes or no, I am now going to auction this tie and the money will assist Victoria Falls hospitals and that that will give life, and service delivery so I will start to auction it at $1000," said Thompson as quoted by 263Chat.
A local businessman Tafadzwa Musarara bought Mnangagwa's necktie.
