Over 28000 register to vote in Harare west

Harare West Legislator Jessie Majome has said over 28000 people have registered to vote in this year's election.

"Well done Harare West for registering to vote during ZEC's mobile voter registration blitz and the on going registration process. 28835 Harare Westerners registered to vote so far according to ZEC's provincial statistics: Ward 16 has more than 18000 new voters and Ward 41 has registered about 10000. This is almost twice the number of people who voted in the 2013 (14571 voted in that election)' she said.

"I BIG thank you to our team of voter educators and mobilisers who ensured that Harare Westerners registered in numbers. I also want to thank the Ward 41 Councillor - Ms. Bango, Ward 16 Councillor Mr. Manjoro, commissioners and school heads who assisted prospective voters with proof of residence by commissioning their affidavits; the lessors and institutions that availed proof of residence to their spouses, children, lodgers and workers."

She said the good Samaritans who responded to her call for help with refreshments and communication costs for the voter educators and mobiliser. $343 was raised and distributed equally between Ward 41 and Ward 16 volunteers.
