ZANU PF official arrested

The political atmosphere in Mhondoro Ngezi Constituency is queasy following reports that a ZANU PF Councillor for ward 6 Nicholas Matore has been going around terrorizing Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity (ZIPP) supporters led by Dr Blessing Kasiyamhuru, seizing party regalia, burning them and denying villagers government food handouts bought using tax payer's money.

Simon Musengi a terrified villager living in Mafindifindi village under Chief Mushava narrated the ordeal he  went through at the hands of marauding ZANU PF youths at a food handout meeting held in ward 6 at Mafindifindi growth point.

'I was pushed to the ground by the councillor and they started attacking me with fists while l lay helplessly on the ground, if it was not for the village elders who came to my rescue it could have been fatal'

Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity (ZIPP) aspiring Candidate for Mhondoro Ngezi Constituency Mr Edgar Magaya and the victims reported the case at Mamina Police Station but the police officer commanding Mamina police station Inspector Mwashita refused to open a docket on Cllr Nicholas Matore prefering a dialogue, in total defiance with the police statement issued recently regarding political violence during the runup to the 2018 polls.



Police officer commanding Mamina police station Inspector Mwashita confirmed to Bulawayo24 that they picked up ZIPP party regalia dumbed at the banks of Ngezi River, they refused to shed more light regarding progress on the matter insisting they are still  investigating the case.

In a related case  Michael Magada Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity (ZIPP) Mhondoro Constituency District Elections Manager was  severely assaulted by a Zanu PF mob led by Ward 7 Political Commissar Donald Maukazuva at a food hand out meeting resulting in the victim loosing his tooth, he was admitted at St Michaels hospitals for medical treatment.

A report was made to Mamina Police Station under Docket number RRB 3376684.

The accused Donald Maukazuva was detained over night at Mamina police station, but was subsequently rescued by a senior ZANU PF official from Mash West Province Name withheld, who visited the station and threatened police officers resulting in the release of the accused violating the constitution for political gain.

ZEC is on record calling on all human rights watch dogs and police to submit all reports of voter intimidation and political violence so that all pepertrators are brought to book but to date ZRP has been reluctant to act against ZANU PF members.

Electoral Act section 156(c) of the Constitution prohibits intimidation, impersonation of ZEC official and trespasing should the person enter your premise. Anyone found commiting these offences shall be apprehended and the law will take its Course.

Human rights Groups have questioned the sincerity of ZEC, they are demanding to see action on the ground a follow up on all reported cases.
