ALLIANCE for the People's Agenda (APA) party's aspiring Member of Parliament for Matopo North constituency is at the centre of a fraud storm following accusations that he allegedly swindled a community member of $260 in a botched farm deal in Figtree, Matabeleland South Province.
Brighton Gumbo said Kudakwashe Zulu duped him of his money after he promised to sell him a farm which he had pegged at $800.
He said on 10 April this year he made an initial payment of $260 and Zulu subsequently asked him to sign an agreement of sale before he disappeared.
"After I made the first payment of $260 he asked me to sign an agreement of sale and promised me that on the following week he would show me the farm in question, "said Gumbo.
But to his surprise when he tried to call him his phone was no longer reachable.
"Since 20 April I have been trying to call him but his phone is not reachable. It has since occurred to me that I was swindled, "he said.
Seeing that Gumbo was no longer reachable Zulu approached APA leadership but he was not met with joy.
"I approached APA leadership but nothing has materialised", he said while adding that he later discovered from Zulu's sister, Sihle that the farm in question belonged to the family.
Contacted for comment Sihle said they inherited the farm from their parents.
"This is a family farm and it was left to us by our parents. Kudakwashe is my brother so I wonder how he could sell the farm," said Sihle.
Efforts to get a comment from Zulu were fruitless as his mobile phone went unanswered.
