MSU gets new vice chancellor

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has appointed Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa as Midlands State University's substantive Vice Chancellor.
MSU director of information and public relations Mrs Mirirai Mawere confirmed the development yesterday.
Prof Muzvidziwa was appointed acting Vice-Chancellor on October 1, 2016 upon the retirement of then Vice Chancellor Prof Ngwabi Bhebhe, a position he held until President Mnangagwa confirmed him as the substantive Vice Chancellor.
"The Midlands State University Council wishes to announce the appointment by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Chancellor of all State Universities, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa as the University's substantive Vice-Chancellor.
"The appointment, which was effected after consultation with the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development and recommendation by the University Council, is with effect from 16 July 2018," she said.
Prof Muzvidziwa is an academic who has vast experience in university and tertiary education, which dates as far back as 1983. He became a full professor in 2004. Prof Muzvidziwa holds a PhD in Anthropology (University of Waikato, New Zealand; an MSc in Sociology and Social Anthropology (University of Zimbabwe; and, a BSc Honours degree in Sociology from the University of Zimbabwe.
He has authored many books, monographs, refereed journal articles, book chapters, conference papers and consultancy reports which been published locally, regionally and internationally. He sits on editorial boards of several refereed journals such as the Journal of Social Development in Africa and Lwati Journal of Research.
