A-23-YEAR-OLD man from Inyathi in Matabeleland North surrendered himself to the police after he had allegedly killed a man who was bedding his wife.
Kudzai Ncube of Hamilton Farm, ward 12, speared Tusime Munkuli (24) from Binga once on the throat and he died on the spot.
The incident occurred at around 1am on Monday at the now deceased's home, about 150m away from the suspect's home.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Chief Inspector Siphiwe Makonese confirmed the murder incident but could not immediately comment.
"I received a report about a murder that occurred in Inyathi. I however, cannot comment at the moment as I don't have the circumstances of what transpired yet," she said.
A source that preferred anonymity said Ncube left home that evening saying he was going to work, at a nearby mine shaft. He returned home at around midnight, to find his wife (name not supplied) not in their bedroom.
"Ncube suspected that his wife was having an affair with Munkuli and had confronted her several times about the matter but she had denied the allegations. Upon not finding her at home, he suspected the two were together and this prompted him to follow her shoeprints.
"Using a torch light, he tracked her down using her shoeprints, which led him to Munkuli's bedroom. He knocked at his door and Munkuli, who was only in his underpants, opened the door unsuspectingly.
"When his saw his lover's husband he quickly slammed the door. The two began to wrestle at the door with Ncube demanding that he opens the door. He stabbed through the zinc door, hitting Munkuli straight in the throat," said a source.
The source said Ncube went to a neighbour's home whom he told that he had injured Munkuli.
"He quickly returned to the scene to look for his wife but found her gone. Munkuli who had crawled out of his bedroom, collapsed and died a few steps away.
"Again the suspect tracked his wife down but could not find her. He then went to Kenilworth Police Station where he surrendered himself to the police saying he had stabbed and injured someone during a struggle," said the source.
The wife later reported the incident to the police too.
