Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army Lieutenant General Edzai Absolom Chanyuka Chimonyo has warned against indiscipline and unprofessionalism in the army hinting that he will not tolerate those who misbehave.
A graduation ceremony was held in Nyanga for 12 graduands who succeeded in battalion group commanders' course 13/18 where Commander ZNA Lieutenant General Chimonyo commended the graduands for exhibiting high standards of discipline throughout the 14 week long course.
"I am informed that one student from this course was returned to unit for indiscipline. The officer failed to abide by the provisions of the standing training instructions leading to his dismissal. Let me categorically state that I will not stand and watch officers and non-commissioned members who fail to meet the standards of professionalism expected of them on any aspect of their conduct," he said.
The different training programmes that members of the ZNA continuously undertake has enabled the organisation to excel in combined training programmes, exercises and operations in the regional body SADC and other countries.
"The success of every organisation is built upon sound human resource development and the ZNA is no exception. I therefore have great conviction that it is through sound military training and manpower development programmes that our army will succeed and earn the respect of fellow Zimbabweans and foreigners alike," Lieutenant General Chimonyo.
The battalion group commanders' course targets selected senior officers of the rank of major and lieutenant colonel to prepare them for the assumption of higher command and related responsibilities.
The course focuses on the practical handling of troops and equipment in all types of operations.
