Zimbabwean Government to honour Oliver Mutukudzi

The Zimbabwean government is set to honour legendary musician Oliver Mtukudzi as Tourism and Culture Ambassador for his contribution to the music industry.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer Karikoga Kaseke on Monday his organisation had proposed to government for the music superstar to be accorded the status.

Kaseke said the process had taken long to be approved but was optimistic Cabinet would bestowing of the status.

"The cabinet tomorrow (Tuesday) is likely to bestow the cultural and tourism status on him," said Kaseke.

Mutukudzi who also attended the press conference urged foreign journalists that attended the Africa Travel Association congress to spread the good news about Zimbabwe.

"The media which is here to witness will take the story of who we are. I will give my best and try and be reflection of what kind of a culture we are," said Mutukudzi before performing at the Culture night.

Meanwhile The Multi-award winning artists Mutukudzi put up a scintillating performance at Culture night concert that was attended by a multi-racial crowd.

The concert put an icing on the cake of the ATA congress that brought together delegates from over 30 countries.
