Mliswa blasts MDC Alliance councillors

INDEPENDENT Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has petitioned MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa over "rampant corruption" at the opposition-run Norton Town Council (NTC) after Zimplats Holdings Limited (Zimplats) was frustrated from setting up a Share Ownership Trust chicken abattoir due to "exorbitant rates".
He said upon further inquiry, it was made known to him "that the failure to establish the abattoir in Norton as planned was due to the exorbitant rates being charged by NTC thereby making implementation by Zimplats prohibitive as well as subsequent decisions by council thereof made on the premise that the proposed project was at my behest. Norton Council is a local government structure led by the MDC Alliance.
It therefore falls to reason that this unfortunate occurrence of denying the community of Norton potential job creation falls squarely on the opposition party," he said in the petition.
He said the proposed abattoir was projected to have the capacity to create approximately 1 500 potential job opportunities mainly for residents of Norton, but is now being taken to Chegutu.
