'Police have no right to ban demonstrations' court says

A High court judge recently ruled that the Zimbabwe Republic Police has no right to ban any protests or demonstrations.
Ruling in a matter that was brought by the National Association of Non-governmental Organisations against the police Justice Zhou said, "The first respondent is not empowered by any law to suspend ,ban, prohibit or stop the lawful exercise of constitutional rights by the applicant or any other person."
The police had told NAYO that their application to demonstrate at parliament was denied because Zimbabweans still have trauma of the January violent protests.
The judge further said, "The decision by the first respondent to suspend, prohibit, ban or stop the holding of a peaceful demonstration/ march to present a petition to parliament on 11 April 2019 in Harare is hereby forthwith suspended."
