A 20-year-old Madziwa man was dragged to Bindura Magistrates court on Monday facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly struck his colleague with a log over beer misunderstanding in Bindura recently.

Gabriel Mokola (20) of Mandere village under Chief Mafumba of Madziwa appeared before Magistrate Maria Musika who remanded him in custody to 7 May.

The state led by public prosecutor Jane Tariro alleges that on Sunday around 9PM Makola was drinking beer with Albert Kuda (28) at Aerodrome shops, Bindura, where he gave someone beer without the consent of Kuda.

In anger Kuda left Makola on the scene but the suspect did not take the gesture lightly and he pursued the complainant armed with a log which he used to strike him all over the body several times.

The complainant bled profusely from the nose and ears before getting unconscious as a result of the alleged assault.

Kuda was rushed to Bindura provincial hospital where he is currently battling for life while the police acted swiftly in apprehending the culprit.
