FORMER Cabinet minister Prisca Mupfumira has asked the court to reduce her reporting conditions from twice a week to once a month, citing health concerns.

She was in court yesterday when she was given a trial date in a matter in which she is jointly charged with former National Social Security Authority (Nssa) director contributions, Barnabas Matongera, on allegations of flouting tender processes. Their actions allegedly prejudiced the national insurer of US$6,5 million in the Muzenya-Gweru housing project.

The two are charged with criminal abuse of office and their trial has been set for three days from November 18 to November 20. Appearing before regional magistrate Ngoni Nduna, the State said they had served the two with their papers in preparation of the trial.

Applying to have the reporting conditions changed Mupfumira, through her lawyer Sylvester Hashiti, said she has been religiously coming to court for over a year now
and observing her bail conditions.

State counsel Michael Reza said the application was wrongly placed before the magistrates' court, saying it ought to be heard at the High Court which granted her bail.
