Bosso invades Zvishavane
24 Aug 2023 at 01:40hrs | Views
Outspoken Bosso head coach Baltermar Brito whose team has posted a series of slender wins against opponents, has come to the defence of his team saying the game of football is not all about posting rugby scorelines.
After 19 outings, Highlanders are yet to taste defeat in a campaign that has seen them posting 11 wins and eight draws to take that points tally to 41.
The Bulawayo football giants, who in the past weekend, edged visiting Black Rhinos 1-0, have so far scored 16 goals and conceded four which puts them on a goal difference of +12.
"Maybe we could have scored more goals by now but we need to manage both our offensive and defensive type of play. Our scorers and defenders get to create chances but it's not about scoring 10 goals in a match.
"We start to build from the goalkeeper and defend from our strikers to avoid losing hence we are collecting points. Even on Sunday if we had drawn even you guys would be sad and some would complain about the coach," said Brito.
On Saturday, the Portuguese gaffer will lead the black and white to Zvishavane where they are set to take on defending league champions FC Platinum who have so far registered seven wins, six draws and the same number of defeats.
The Pure Platinum Play boys who are on position seven on the log, trail Bosso by 14 points.
In first league encounter this season at Barbourfields Stadium, Highlanders beat the Norman Mapeza mentored side 2-0.
Meanwhile, second placed Ngezi Platinum Stars will seek to utilise home advantage when they play against Triangle United at Baobab Stadium on Saturday.
Former league champions Chicken Inn will have a date with army side Cranborne Bullets at Luveve Stadium.
Nyamhunga Stadium will be the venue for the game between ZPC Kariba and former Cup Kings Caps United.
Green Fuel will lock horns with Hwange at Gibbo Stadium while Bulawayo Chiefs will make the trip to Gweru for their match against bottom placed Black Rhinos.
On Sunday, Yadah Stars will entertain bruised Sheasham at Baobab Stadium.
The Construction Boys are smarting from a 0-2 home defeat at the hands of DeMbare.
The Glamour Boys will square it off against Simba Bhora at Barbourfields Stadium while third placed Manica Diamonds take on Herentals College in another match that will be staged at Gibbo Stadium.
