Police in Matabeleland South are seeking information to locate a woman who abandoned her three-week-old baby with a vendor and did not return.
The baby is currently at Beitbridge District Hospital.
The unidentified woman left the baby with the vendor at Engene garage in Beitbridge, claiming she needed to go to Mussina, South Africa, to collect money, as her baby did not have travel documents.
She provided a cellphone number and promised to return, but became unreachable later that evening.
The vendor took the baby to the police the next day, and the baby was then taken to the hospital for safety.
The police are asking the public for any information that could help identify the mother.
