Jealous husband remanded for assaulting wife over cellphone dispute

PLUMTREE - A 36-year-old man, Smart Dube, has been remanded in custody after allegedly assaulting his wife over a cellphone dispute involving a suspected love message.
Dube appeared before Plumtree Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who remanded him to November 25.
According to the state, led by prosecutor Sheila Nyathi, the incident occurred on October 28 when Dube discovered a romantic text message on his wife Nomvelo Ncube's cellphone, sparking a heated misunderstanding.
The following day, Dube returned home from work visibly angry. He refused to eat the food served by his wife and allegedly began assaulting her with open hands, eventually pinning her down.
A police report was filed, leading to Dube's arrest.
