MUSHUMBI POOLS – Villagers in Mushumbi Pools have expressed outrage after their village head, Isaac Svinugwa (45), was arrested on allegations of being the ring leader in a series of stock thefts in the area.
Svinugwa was arrested alongside three other suspects: Lyod Marovha, Knowledge Nhete, and Herbert Gatsi.
According to police, Marovha implicated Svinugwa as the mastermind behind the thefts, leading to his arrest.
Mashonaland Central Deputy Police Spokesperson Lucy Chigwenhese confirmed the case.
“I can confirm the arrest of Svinugwa, Marovha, Knowledge Nhete and Herbert Gatsi in connection with a series of stock thefts in Mushumbi Pools,” Chigwenhese said.
Allegations are that sometime in November, the suspects stole cattle belonging to Michael Chininga (45) and Luckson Nyamarombo (92) from grazing lands before selling the meat to butcheries.
The arrests have left villagers shocked, with many questioning the integrity of their traditional leadership.
