Bulawayo has been rocked by two violent murders, highlighting growing concerns over violent crime in the city. In Magwegwe, 26-year-old Mongiwethu Godknows Dube was fatally stabbed, while in Cowdray Park, Zibusiso Tshuma was hacked to death with axes.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed that Mongiwethu Dube was attacked following an altercation with Keith Dube, who had reportedly splashed beer on him and his friends. The following morning, Mongiwethu and a friend went to Keith Dube's residence, forcibly entered his bedroom, and assaulted him. During the confrontation, a man identified only as Nkosi intervened and stabbed Mongiwethu on the right thigh and head. Mongiwethu was found injured near Magwegwe North shopping centre and was rushed to Mpilo Hospital, where he later died.

In a separate incident in Cowdray Park, Zibusiso Tshuma was drinking beer with a friend at a local tuckshop when three men, including two identified as Henry and Gii, approached wielding axes. Tshuma and his friend attempted to flee, but the trio pursued Tshuma, striking him multiple times with the axes. He died on the scene, and his body was taken to a local hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Police investigations are ongoing in both cases as authorities work to apprehend the suspects involved.
