The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an intensive manhunt for Anymore Zvitsva, the prime suspect in the killing of five family members at Ona Farm in Guruve last week.
According to police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the victims have been identified as Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (5), Tatenda Chirenje (2), and Tendai Zvitsva (40). Tendai Zvitsva later died after being admitted to Guruve Hospital.
Investigations indicate that a neighbour was awakened by noise from the homestead and responded, alerting authorities. The suspect is also allegedly linked to a recent case in Zimuna Village under Chief Bepura, where three members of another family were killed.
The ZRP has mobilised a multi-unit operation to apprehend Zvitsva, including the Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Canine Unit, horse patrols, intelligence teams, and drone technology. Surveillance is concentrated in forest and mountainous areas where the suspect is believed to be hiding.
Police are working closely with local communities and traditional leaders to ensure the suspect's swift arrest. The operation remains ongoing as authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
