Illegal miners clash over sex worker, one dead

MAZOWE – A violent clash between rival groups of illegal miners at Nduku Business Centre has left one man dead following a dispute over a sex worker.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the murder, saying investigations are underway.

The altercation reportedly began when Gift Machingaife had a misunderstanding with Terrence Langton over a sex worker. Langton allegedly stabbed Machingaife on the shoulder, but he survived.

Machingaife later mobilised a gang of illegal miners led by Sam Kasinakuse to retaliate. The two groups clashed using knives and logs, resulting in the fatal stabbing of John Banda, who sustained a deep wound to the rib cage.

Banda’s body was taken to Concession Hospital for safekeeping.

Police have urged members of the public to avoid violence and report any information that may assist in the investigation.
