Two Plumtree men have appeared in court after they allegedly stole five goats from a grazing area and sold one of them to a local teacher.
The pair appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing stock‑theft charges.
According to the State, led by prosecutor Sheila Nyathi, the incident occurred on 29 July last year when Gracious Nkomo released her goats to graze near her homestead. The suspects allegedly went to the grazing land and drove away five goats from Nkomo’s herd.
The court heard that the duo later sold one of the goats to a primary school teacher in the Mayobo area. The teacher became suspicious that the animal might have been stolen and reported the matter to the police.
Officers reacted swiftly and arrested the two suspects.
The case was remanded to 3 March.
