Police arrest duo over series of armed robberies in Harare

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed the arrest of two men linked to a series of armed robberies committed in Beatrice, Harare, on 5 and 6 March.
In a statement posted on their X account, police said they arrested Conrad Moyo (22) and Milford Sidhakwa (24) following swift investigations.
“On 6 March 2026, police in Beatrice received a report of an armed robbery which occurred on 5 March 2026 at around 2200 hours at a bar, where a security guard and a bar lady were attacked before two cellphones, cash and alcoholic beverages were stolen,” the statement read.
Police attended the scene and conducted a motorised patrol along the Harare–Masvingo Road, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The arrests resulted in the recovery of 20 smartphones, US$780 and ZiG110 cash, two torches, a bolt cutter, a machete, a necklace, an electric shocker and a satchel.
Police said the suspects are linked to seven armed robbery cases, including a robbery at a motel in Beatrice on 6 March at around 1:20am, where US$371, alcoholic beverages and two cellphones were stolen. They are also connected to another robbery at a plot in Rocklands, Beatrice, at around 1:45am the same day, where four cellphones and US$609 were stolen.
Police appealed for information leading to the arrest of the outstanding suspect, Shadreck Shava.
“Anyone with information should contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631, WhatsApp 0712 800 197, or report at any nearest police station,” police said.
