Bosso still can't score

Highlanders continued their season of fine margins with another goalless draw against Scottland at Rufaro Stadium, extending their winless run to six matches while maintaining an impressive defensive record.

The result highlighted a clear contrast in Bosso's campaign so far: they are extremely difficult to break down, but equally unable to turn defensive resilience into victories.

Coach Benjani Mwaruwari praised his side's discipline, particularly their fourth consecutive clean sheet, and described the away point as valuable against a Scottland team that had been in strong scoring form.

“I think today's game, the boys played so well… to come away and get a point, it's a point gained,” he said, adding that the team's defensive consistency showed clear progress.

Highlanders defended resolutely throughout, with Kuda Mahachi, Nomore Chinyerere, Andrew Mbeba and Brian Mlotshwa forming a compact backline that limited Scottland's attacking threats for long periods.

Mbeba also posed an aerial threat from set pieces, coming close on two occasions.

However, their lack of attacking sharpness once again proved costly. Reason Sibanda missed the clearest chance of the match, firing wide after being played through on goal by Mongameli Tshuma.

Scottland also had opportunities, with Terrence Dzvukamanja setting up Walter Musona in a one-on-one situation, but the attempt lacked conviction and was comfortably saved by Aaron Ngwenya.

Khama Billiat showed glimpses of influence for Scottland, while Aboubakar Moffat came closest to breaking the deadlock late on when his long-range effort struck the upright.

Scottland coach Norman Mapeza acknowledged that both sides had chances, but admitted neither did enough to secure all three points.

While the draw preserves Highlanders' defensive momentum, their inability to score continues to undermine their season, leaving them with just six points from six matches and still searching for their first win.

The team's organisation and resilience are evident, but without greater attacking efficiency, their progress remains limited to draws rather than victories.
