Patriotic Vendors4ED salutes Zimbabwe at 46, calls for unity and industrial mindset

The Patriotic Vendors4ED National Executive Committee has joined the nation in celebrating Zimbabwe's 46th Independence anniversary, paying tribute to liberation heroes while calling for unity, accountability and economic transformation.

In a statement to mark the milestone, the organisation, led by Sawu Jere, said Independence Day remains a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made during the Chimurenga/Umvukela liberation struggles, which secured the country's freedom from colonial rule.

The group honoured fallen heroes and heroines whose bravery and resilience paved the way for independence, urging Zimbabweans to uphold the values they fought for.

"We honour our forebears and recommit to democracy, good governance, transparency, accountability and the rule of law," the organisation said.

Vendors4ED said the anniversary presents an opportunity for citizens to reflect on national progress and renew commitment to building a prosperous and inclusive society grounded in unity and shared responsibility.

The organisation emphasised the importance of instilling an industrial and entrepreneurial mindset among young people, noting that youth empowerment is key to achieving sustainable economic growth.

It also rallied Zimbabweans to embrace the government's development agenda under Vision 2030, which seeks to transform the country into an upper‑middle‑income economy.

The group expressed support for the leadership of the Second Republic under Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, saying ongoing development initiatives are helping to steer the country towards modernisation and economic recovery.

"As we celebrate 46 years of independence, let us promote unity and work together in building our nation. Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo," the statement read.

Zimbabwe attained independence on 18 April 1980, marking the end of colonial rule and the beginning of self‑governance.
