Former Evans Gwekwerere has confirmed the collapse of his marriage to Natasha Kaira Green following a domestic dispute that reportedly turned violent.
Speaking exclusively to H-Metro, the former Dynamos striker admitted that he assaulted his wife after allegedly discovering messages on her phone suggesting she was involved in an extra-marital affair.
Gwekwerere said the incident occurred on March 15 and dismissed suggestions that it was recent.
"Yes, I had a fallout with my wife because she was having an affair with a boyfriend while she was married to me," he said.
"So, there was a bit of trouble at home and she left our house after the altercation. It's something that happened on March 15, it's not a recent incident as some are incorrectly suggesting."
The former Warriors forward said he reacted out of anger after learning about the alleged affair.
"I was angry with her and that is why I reacted the way I did but it wouldn't have happened if she had not cheated," he said.
Gwekwerere added that after temporarily leaving home to calm down, he later discovered that household property had been removed from the house.
"In my anger, I also left our home to try and cool down and when I came back I found out that she had taken all our household property and taken it somewhere, I don't know where.
"She also took our children and they are being kept by their mother. She reported me to the police but she is the one who started all this with her actions."
He further claimed that Natasha has since resumed a social lifestyle and has been visiting nightclubs following their separation.
The dramatic breakdown of the marriage comes less than two years after Gwekwerere paid lobola for Natasha in July 2024.
At the time, the former Dynamos star had reportedly received a US$17,000 payout from his former club after pursuing outstanding payments through the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe and CAF processes linked to unpaid dues.
The couple later travelled to South Africa for their honeymoon, spending time in Gauteng and staying at the Blyde Riverwalk Estate in Pretoria.
Social media posts shared during the honeymoon portrayed the couple as deeply in love, with Natasha captioning one image: "Me and my lovely hubby."
Sources close to the couple at the time said family pressure surrounding the formalisation of the union had strained the relationship before lobola negotiations were concluded.
Meanwhile, Natasha previously made headlines after the High Court ordered her to pay US$1 million in damages in a long-running adultery case brought by Gwekwerere's first wife, Makanyara Mafunga.
In court papers, Mafunga alleged that Natasha had an adulterous relationship with Gwekwerere during the subsistence of their marriage, which was solemnised in November 2020 under Zimbabwe's Marriages Act.
