Constantino Chiwenga will represent Emmerson Mnangagwa at the inauguration of Yoweri Museveni in Kampala on Tuesday.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds and is expected to attract delegations from 35 countries.

Zimbabwe's Deputy Ambassador to Uganda, Silibaziso Manyonga, confirmed Vice President Chiwenga's visit.

"I am here on behalf of Ambassador Winpeg Moyo. I am here to welcome the Honourable Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is coming here to represent His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa at the inauguration of His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni," she said.

Uganda's Minister in charge of the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, said President Museveni had invited delegations from across Africa and beyond, with at least 30 countries having confirmed attendance by last week.

She added that 15 revolutionary parties from different parts of the world had also confirmed participation following invitations extended by Uganda's ruling National Resistance Movement.

President Museveni secured victory in Uganda's January 15 presidential election after polling 7 946 772 votes, representing 71,6 percent of the vote, according to the Electoral Commission.

His main challenger, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, leader of the National Unity Platform, received 2 741 238 votes, while Nathan Nandala Mafabi of the Forum for Democratic Change came third with 209 039 votes.

The inauguration marks the beginning of President Museveni's seventh term in office.

Zimbabwe and Uganda have recently been strengthening bilateral economic relations following the successful Zimbabwe-Uganda Business Forum held in Harare in March.

The forum brought together policymakers, investors and business leaders from both countries to explore opportunities in trade, tourism and investment as part of broader regional integration efforts.
