Hardrock Football Club has suspended its chief executive officer, Mr Kudzanai Hove, with immediate effect pending the outcome of investigations into the violent disturbances that led to the abandonment of the Premier Soccer League match against Dynamos at Chahwanda Stadium.
In a statement issued by Communications and Media Liaison Officer Bruce Chikuni, the club said the decision forms part of efforts to preserve the integrity of the game while authorities continue their investigations.
Hardrock FC strongly condemned the violence and vandalism that erupted during the fixture, saying such conduct is inconsistent with the club's values and has no place in football.
"We strongly condemn all acts of violence and vandalism. Such conduct is contrary to the values of the club and has no place in football," the statement read.
The club said it will cooperate fully with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and other stakeholders to ensure that all those responsible for the match abandonment are held accountable.
"As Hardrock FC, we will work closely with the Zimbabwe Republic Police and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that everyone who played a role in causing the abandonment of the fixture is brought to book," it said.
Hardrock FC also issued an apology to supporters of both clubs, football stakeholders and the public over the incident, describing it as regrettable.
The suspension comes after reports and viral footage allegedly linked Mr Hove to violent scenes during the chaos that erupted following a disputed equaliser in the 1–1 match.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident, which saw pitch invasions, crowd trouble, and injuries to several supporters. Further disciplinary and legal action is expected as the probe unfolds.
