THE Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) has announced a scheduled maintenance and upgrade exercise for the Electronic Government Procurement (eGP) system, which will render the platform temporarily unavailable from Thursday this week.

In a statement, PRAZ said the system will be offline from 6:30am on May 28 until 6:30am on May 30 as part of efforts to improve efficiency and reliability.

"Electronic Government Procurement eGP System will be temporarily unavailable for a scheduled upgrade and maintenance exercise," the authority said.

PRAZ warned users to expect access challenges during the maintenance period, adding that contingency measures had been put in place to minimise disruptions to procurement activities.

To ensure fairness and continuity, all tenders originally scheduled to close between May 28 and May 30 have been rescheduled to close on June 2, 2026.

"To address this and ensure fairness to all bidders, all tenders originally scheduled to close during the affected period (28–30 May 2026) will be moved or extended to close on Tuesday, June 2, 2026," read the statement.

The authority said the extension was intended to give bidders sufficient time to complete and submit their documents while maintaining transparency, equity and equal opportunity in the procurement process.

PRAZ acknowledged that the downtime may inconvenience users, particularly those in the process of preparing or submitting bids, and issued an apology for the disruption.

"We fully understand that this downtime may cause significant inconvenience to ongoing procurement activities… Please accept our sincere apologies for any disruption this may cause to your operations," the statement added.

The upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the digital procurement system and improve service delivery across government contracting processes.
