President Emmerson Mnangagwa has directed local authorities to regularise prayer sites for Johane The Fifth of Africa International Church, announcing that all documentation for the church's Mvuma shrine has been completed.

The announcement follows the President's presentation of a Toyota Land Cruiser and other resources to the church's leader, Archbishop Andby Commander Makururu, at State House on Friday. During the ceremony, Mnangagwa commended Makururu for what he described as his prayers for peace and national unity.

On Saturday, the President was the guest of honour at the church's annual convention in Mvuma, Midlands Province. He was represented by Zanu PF National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

In a speech delivered to congregants, Mnangagwa praised the church's growth both within Zimbabwe and internationally.

"I am pleased to note that this church is growing rapidly, with its wings spreading within Africa and beyond the continent," he said.

"There are functional branches in Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, the United Kingdom and the United States of America."

The President announced that the Mvuma prayer shrine had been regularised, saying the necessary documentation had been processed in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works and the Mvuma Town Council.

"I am here to declare that this Mvuma land is now yours because all the paperwork is there. I have been working with Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe," Mnangagwa said.

He also instructed local authorities to identify and allocate additional land for the church's prayer sites.

"I am working with other councils to give you land, and the relevant papers are being drawn," he said.

Mnangagwa further referred to reports that some individuals had allegedly sought to frustrate the church's activities.

"I am told that there were some people who were persecuting you; I warn them," he said.

Archbishop Makururu thanked the President for attending the annual convention and commended his leadership.

"I want to hail you, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for leading peace in the country, and we are very happy," Makururu said.

"I also want to thank you for gracing our annual prayer convention."

The church's annual gathering attracted congregants from different parts of Zimbabwe and neighbouring countries.
