Six masked men armed with pistols and iron bars raided a company in Bulawayo's Donnington industrial area, tying up two security guards before escaping with US$1 100 in cash.

The daring robbery occurred at about 5am on August 14, 2026, along Dunlop Road.

The victims, aged 54 and 64, were on duty when the armed gang allegedly confronted them and threatened to kill them.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.

"The six unknown male adults wearing black balaclavas and speaking Ndebele approached the guards armed with pistols and a crowbar. They threatened to kill them and ordered them to comply," she said.

The suspects allegedly bound the guards' hands behind their backs using electric cables before taking them to the administration block, where they were ordered to lie face down.

The gang then forced open the main door with a crowbar and ransacked several offices.

According to police, the suspects broke into the Finance Manager's office safe and stole US$400.

They then forced open the door to the Resident Director's office and took another US$700 from a drawer.

The robbers subsequently fled from the premises with the cash.

"The total value stolen is US$1 100. Nothing has been recovered," said Insp Msebele.

Police have launched investigations and are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in identifying or locating the suspects to come forward.

"We appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to come forward and report at any nearest police station," Insp Msebele said.

The robbery has raised renewed concerns over security at commercial premises, particularly during early-morning hours when security personnel can be vulnerable to coordinated attacks.
