Highlanders withdraw disciplinary case against CEO

Highlanders FC has withdrawn disciplinary proceedings against chief executive officer Denzil Mnkandla, with the decision taken during a hearing on Wednesday morning.

The club's disciplinary authority met to deliberate on the matter, which had previously been postponed.

At the hearing, independent prosecutor Ndabezinhle Mazibuko advised the panel, chaired by Vusi Vuma and comprising Solomon Mguni as the other member.

Mazibuko reportedly told the panel that he took his instructions from the club. Acting Highlanders chairman Kindman Ndlovu subsequently confirmed that the club had been advised by its lawyer, Nqobile Sithole, to withdraw the charges against Mnkandla.

Sithole, who serves as Highlanders' lawyer, was confirmed in the position at the club's annual general meeting earlier this year.

On August 31, Sithole is alleged to have advised the club to withdraw the disciplinary charges against Mnkandla. Following the advice, the club's executive met and resolved to accept the recommendation.

Highlanders chairman Vusi Vuma confirmed that the disciplinary case had been withdrawn.

Despite the withdrawal of the internal disciplinary proceedings, the club is expected to continue pursuing criminal charges against Mnkandla.

Mnkandla is now expected to return to his administrative duties at the Bulawayo-based club.
