Benjani breaks silence on Bosso future following Chivayo's death

Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari has spoken out about his future at the Bulawayo giants amid renewed uncertainty following the death of club benefactor Wicknell Chivayo.

Mwaruwari's future was first thrown into doubt in August after reports emerged claiming that the former Warriors international had tendered his resignation over frustration with the direction of the club.

Chivayo's death has now raised fresh questions about the coach's position, as the businessman had pledged to pay Mwaruwari's salary following his appointment ahead of the new season.

However, the former Warriors captain has revealed that he remains contracted to Highlanders for another two years, adding that his continued stay will depend on whether the club's leadership is satisfied with his performance.

"I am still contracted and I have two years. If the bosses are happy with me, I will continue," Mwaruwari said.

He urged the club to remain focused despite the uncertainty, stressing that there was still something to play for.

"For now, we have to stay positive and focused because we still have something to play for," he said.
