The Zimbabwe National Road Administration says it will double revenue collection from highway tollgates following the computerisation of the road fee collection points.
Speaking on the sidelines of the just-ended Harare Agricultural Show, Zinara chief executive officer Frank Chitukutuku explained that average figures showed the organisation would realise a significant increase in funds collected from motorists travelling across the country's roads.
Prior to computerisation, Zinara would collect an average of $60 000 to $80 000 every month per tollgate.
The figure increased by between 33 and 87.5% to $80 000 and $150 000 per computerised tollgate on a monthly basis.
Chitukutuku explained that outside the 9 tollgates along the infralink route, Zinara hopes to computerise all 17 tollgates in the country.
