The High Court has ordered Mutare North legislator Batsiranayi Pemhenayi to pay over $18 000 to Zuzei Mandiyabe whom he defrauded through a botched property sale deal.
In a High Court order handed down by Justice Hlekani Mwayera, Pemhenayi was ordered to refund Mandiyabe $12 000 paid to him for the purchase of a 2 204 square metre Mutare stand with an additional $6 000 being legal fees paid by the plaintiff.
The court came to the conclusion that the legislator, through clandestine means, disposed of the Mutare stand which belonged to Homelink prejudicing Mandiyabe of his money.
According to the plaintiffs' lawyer, Kudzaishe Gama, the legislator has not complied with the High Court order issued in May.
An attempt by the deputy sheriff to attach property failed forcing him to approach the Salary Service Bureau seeking to satisfy the order of the court by deducting money from the legislator.
