54-year-old v*rgin raped at knife point

A MUTASA man who allegedly raped a 54-year-old v*rgin woman has been brought before the courts to answer rape charges.
Munyaradzi Jangano 33 of Kadzunga Village, Chief Mutasa is alleged to have raped the woman who is claiming that the rape was her first ever sex encounter.
The woman who took three days to make a police report was medically examined at Mutare Provincial Hospital and the medical report support her claims that she was a v*rgin prior to the rape incident.
Jangano who was not represented and was not asked to plead when he appeared before provincial magistrate Mr Shingi Mutiro who remanded him to August 18.
State prosecutor, Mr Tafara Chawatama, told the court that Jangano raped the woman at knife-point and also stole some Zimbabwean dollars.
"On June 27, the complainant was alone at home. She retired to bed at around 7pm and at around 10.30pm, she was awakened by a noise which was within the house. She saw Jangano beside her bed when he lit a matchstick and managed to identify him.
"She screamed for help, but Jangano grabbed her neck and threatened to kill her with a knife he was holding. He proceeded to rape her.
"After raping her, Jangano stole some Zimbabwean currency and went away.
"He threatened to kill her if she divulged what had happened. On June 30, the complainant told a villager, one Brighton Kadzunga, that she was raped by the accused. A police report was made leading to Jangano's arrest," said Mr Chawatama.
