Woman bashed for 'poor cooking'

A 24-YEAR-OLD woman from Chitungwiza was severely assaulted and threatened with an axe by her husband Given Mutsetse (35), because he did not like the food she had prepared for him.
He was fined $100 or to spent 20 days in jail on his own plea of guilty and an additional two months was wholly suspended on condition of good behaviour for five years.
Prosecutor Zuvarashe Mushayabasa told the court that on September 14, this year at around 1200hrs, the complainant Beaula Banda served her husband his food. The court heard that Mutsetse threw the food in the bin and damaged the plate.
During the assault, Banda ran away and sought refuge at their neighbour's place until her mother-in-law came to her rescue and a police report was made leading to Mutsetse's arrest.
The complainant sustained some injuries.
