A vote of no confidence has been passed on controversial Zanu-PF Harare provincial youth chairperson and a key Grace Mugabe ally, Godwin Gomwe, for allegedly unleashing violence and fanning factionalism in the party.

This happened early this week as the factional and succession wars in President Robert Mugabe's party intensify.

In a letter of expulsion seen by the Daily News yesterday, the Harare youth executive decided to kick out Gomwe at a youth executive meeting held in Harare on Tuesday.

Gomwe travelled throughout the country with Grace during her controversial "Meet the People" rallies, where she attacked Vice President Joice Mujuru virulently.

He was also accused of mobilising youths at all the rallies to chant anti-Mujuru slogans and to heckle top Zanu-PF officials linked to the beleaguered vice president.

"This letter serves to notify you that a vote of no confidence was passed on you by 21 members of the youth league provincial executive committee on 4 November, 2014 at a meeting held at the provincial office," the letter reads.

"According to Article 129, Section 251, a vote of no confidence shall be by a simple majority of all members of the appropriate organ. In this case, the youth league provincial executive committee is the appropriate organ and all the 21 members present unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on you.

"Accordingly and with effect from 4 November, 2014, you ceased to be chairman of the Harare province youth league," the letter continues.

Gomwe is accused of failing to convene meetings of the provincial executive in accordance with the Zanu-PF constitution.

The former Harare youth league leader was also accused of using violence against provincial members as well as district officials.

"Despite police reports and complaints, you continue to use violence and threats of violence against members of the youth league," the letter reads further.

Gomwe was this week fingered as the mastermind behind the choreographed demonstrations that are currently rocking Harare South.

Five days ago, Gomwe allegedly bussed youths to the same constituency to demonstrate against the party provincial political commissar for Harare, Shadreck Mashayamombe, who is also the legislator for the constituency.

On Wednesday, there were violent clashes in the area as housing cooperatives clashed, with Gomwe's name featuring prominently.

Members of the Tirivepano Housing Cooperative, who are aligned to Mashayamombe and were given residential stands by the local board, say they were attacked by members of the Nyasha Dzamwari Housing Cooperative, which had allegedly hired Gomwe.
