Zimra to conduct a blitz on smuggled cars

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has threatened to conduct a blitz on vehicles being sneaked into the country without paying duty.
Speaking at a media briefing in Harare yesterday, Zimra commissioner-general Gershom Pasi said a number of vehicles were coming into the country without paying duty through corrupt means.
Pasi said Zimra will be carrying out a blitz as there are gullible Zimra officers who take bribes. He said they (Zimra) don't know what to do as the whole service system is corrupt.
Pasi said vehicles being imported were currently passing through the border with Zimbabwean number plates and with a registration book without even paying duty.
He said corruption in Zimbabwe had reached alarming levels and urged all citizens to take part in curbing it.
