FlyAfrica mulls special fare for school children

Local budget airline, FlyAfrica says it is working with the government to introduce a scheme specially designed to cater for school children in an effort to promote domestic tourism.

FlyAfrica is in discussions with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development as well as players in the tourism sector to introduce packages that will allow school children to travel using special fares.

"There will be a special fare for children, we are in the process of talking to various sector players, hoteliers, the National Parks and Wildlife Authority and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) to work out the plan," said Fly Africa Country Manager Mr Matipedza Karase.

The acquisition of new aircraft is expected to determine how the airline will penetrate new routes locally and regionally.

Meanwhile, the airline has introduced a flight between Bulawayo and Johannesburg and the inaugural flight commenced this Monday afternoon while the official launch by Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister, Dr Obert Mpofu will be held at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo on Thursday.
