A Harare man is chasing away his HIV-positive wife from their matrimonial home, saying he can no longer stay with her because she is "rotten", the Civil Court heard yesterday.
Susan Machingura claimed her husband Sergio Tarwirei was in the habit of physically abusing her and locking her outside the house at night because of her HIV status.
Machingura was seeking a protection order against Tarwirei whom she was accusing of breaching her peace.
Machingura told magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza that Tarwirei abuses her whenever he comes home drunk.
"I sometimes sleep outside the house at night because he locks me outside," she said.
Tarwirei denied the allegations and accused Machingura of being a prostitute.
"Both of us drink beer and when we fight we will be drunk," said Tarwirei.
Mr Nyatsanza granted the order in Machingura's favour which barred Tarwirei from either physically or verbally abusing her and also ordered him to keep peace towards his wife at all times.
