President Robert Mugabe says the Zimbabwe Republic Police should thoroughly investigate any cases of corruption and abuse of office.
Speaking at a pass out parade where 698 officers graduated at Morris Depot President Mugabe said the ZRP should maintain zero tolerance to corruption as it hampers the country's progress.
Of the 698, 408 were male while 290 were female graduands.
He urged graduating students to be professional, caring and compassionate and to endeavour to be fair and balanced as they undertake their duties.
Mugabe said the police should add courses in their curricular that are relevant to the modern day activities of criminals which will speed up their effectiveness.
He said courses such as computer science, criminal analysis and forensic studies will help police bring criminals to book more efficiently.
President Mugabe also urged the ZRP to speed up the acquisition of the automated finger print detection machines to avoid unnecessary delays during court proceedings.
The President also commended the ZRP for empowering women as nearly half of the graduates were female.
He thanked Zimbabweans for their support and promised to do his best for the country as President and chairman of SADC and the African Union.
