Tsvangirai heads to Midlands for Dzamara prayer rally

President Morgan Tsvangirai tomorrow heads to Mandava stadium in Zvishavane, Midlands province for the Itai Dzamara prayer rally.
President Tsvangirai and the MDC leadership will join the church, leaders of the political parties and civic society groups to pray for the missing Dzamara, abducted by State agents in Harare on March 9, 2015.
The abduction of Itai shows that the safety and security of the citizen remains under serious threat even though it is guaranteed in the new Constitution, which the Zanu PF government is refusing to implement.
The prayer meeting in the Midlands comes in the wake of a resolution at the people's summit by civic groups in SADC that was held in Botswana last week, parallel to the summit by the Heads of State and government. After their meeting, the civics handed over their petition to the Heads of State demanding that pressure be given to the Zimbabwe government to investigate the whereabouts of Itai.
Many MDC activists have been abducted and others killed while the State has always shown heavy handedness on innocent citizens, starting with the Gukurahundi massacres in the early 80s.
Midlands province, the venue of this weekend's prayer meeting is a province where MDC supporters have been brutalized over the years by well-known Zanu PF activists such as Biggie Chitoro who was the key figure in the onslaught of the opposition.
