The subject of black magic and evil powers always stir controversy.

While people might debate over the issue, for one Gokwe family, such powers are a reality as they are living in literally hell on earth due to some magic believed to be contained in a baboon's skull.

Members of the Magama family are at each other's throats and at the centre of the quarrel is a baboon skull.

The family has witnessed mysterious deaths and suicides, while the father is now suffering from mental illness.

Five siblings believe all the suffering is caused by a baboon skull allegedly acquired by their mother and a brother identified as Ocean.

Two sisters in the family claim they were shown the baboon skull 10 years ago by their brother's wife who was bragging to them about the latest acquisition.

Years later when the siblings confronted their mother and brother about the baboon skull, they say they were told it was meant to bring wealth, good yields and prosperity.

26-year-old Mercy Magama makes scary claims of engaging in sex with invisible beings in broad daylight.

Another sibling, Tendai claims that when she dreams of some of the family members who died mysteriously she wakes up sleeping outside the house with heavy bleeding.

Attempts to bring prophets to cleanse the home have failed to yield results.

A local traditional healer, Mbuya Garawega, is said to have managed to remove goblins from the home but not the baboon skull.

The Magama family members, who have crossed swords, approached Chief Njelele to intervene after Chief Mukoka had failed to mediate.

Efforts to get a comment from the mother and brother were fruitless.
