Cimas Medical Aid managing director Roderick Takawira has retired from Cimas after 29 years' service to Cimas Medical Aid Society.
He had been managing director of the society's medical aid division since January last year. Prior to this he served in various senior information technology positions.
Mr Takawira, who was educated at St Ignatius College, Gokomere High School and Mzilikazi High School, held a Bachelor of Science degree in Computing Science and Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe.
He joined Cimas in September 1987 as systems manager, a position he held for more than 12 years. He was appointed Chief Information Officer in January 2000 and Group IT Executive in January 2004. He served in this position for 11 years before his appointment in January 2015 as managing director of Cimas Medical Aid Division.
Commenting on Mr Takawira's retirement, Cimas chairman Mordecai Mahlangu said the society appreciated the nearly three decades of loyal service Mr Takawira had given the society.
"Mr Takawira served Cimas faithfully for exactly 29 years, having joined the society in September 1987. With his extensive knowledge of the society's operations and IT systems, he has been an asset to the society and will be greatly missed.
"We wish him well in his retirement," he said.
