Unit L residents in Seke, Chitungwiza are a bitter community as they complained that the council was charging them for water yet they are not getting any running precious liquiid from the councl.

Harare Residents Trust reported that the residents are charged for water and sewerage yet they have septic tanks and do not receive municipal water from the Chitungwiza Municipality.

"Their ward councillor has reportedly built a shop near the community borehole at the boundary of Chigumba area and the Unit L Extension suburb. Most of the houses built in the suburb are built on top of a line reserved for sewerage pipes, and some of the houses are built in areas where sewerage bursts are prevalent," said the trust "With the rainy season beckoning, the situation will be desperate. It would seem that the whole housing crisis in Chitungwiza is fueled by identified politicians from both Zanu PF and the MDCT, in and outside of council."

The trust said even former councillors and MPs are heavily involved, parceling out council land to desperate homeseekers.

"Most of the roads in the community are unnamed, with nearly half of the houses without stand numbers. Therefore they receive municipal services like refuse collection but do not pay any money to the council. Instead they pay their money to individual land barons," said the trust.
