The leader of Zimbabwe Yadzoka / Mayibuye iZimbabwe social movement Victor Chimhutu has said the ruling Zanu PF leadership has abandoned the people's cause and focused on self aggrandisation which is making the economic crisis continue to escalate in the country. ·
He said Zanu-PF leadership must know that things will only get worse, as they have abandoned people and humanity.
":Your leadership has failed the people, the country and its membership," he said.
"The country is burning and your leadership is in denial. This revolution (social movement) is not against the general membership of Zanu-PF because you are also deprived like us. It is a struggle to save our country, so that your child and my child will have a place to call home , so that your child will be proud to call Zimbabwe home , so that your child will be proud of the role you played in getting rid of vices of greediness, corruption, maladministration etc, which have engulfed our beautiful country."
He said these vices go against the grain of people's values of Ubuntu, Hunhu,
"I am because you are -" In our African collectivist communities, the philosophy of ubuntu teaches us that we can only be a good 'person' or crudely put 'human', 'umuntu', 'munhu' if you put your group or community first . Now I am not proposing we ignore personal talent & effort just for the sake of collectivism---the same philosophy has taught us well too that, a branch of a tree cannot detach itself from the tree & survive independently. This is Ubuntu," he said.
"Zanu-PF leadership has thrown this philosophy down the gutter. My fellow Zimbabweans & Africans there is nothing in our values that propagates greediness and/or unfairness. Our leaders are abusing our culture & hence our people. There has to be a point where all this has to end. It is our collective responsibility that our society is built on a sound moral fabric & that we embrace modernity but built it on ubuntu, a philosophy so pure yet abused."
He said grandparents know when the race is over, they knew when to let go, they knew when was the time to pass down the stick/ batton to the next generation.
"Even today in our families our parents when they discover that you have matured and learned well, they heaped us with greatest responsibility even including convening the family Indabas, this doesn't mean we are making them or themselves irrelevant but it shows that they have taught us well. So credit goes to the learner & them as good teachers. Under these circumstances, they will remain to play a very vital advisory role," he said..
"Sub-Saharan Africa let us therefore reject dictatorship for there is nothing African there, let's reject greediness for there is noting 'humaness' about it -! When we fight to free our people, we don't only do this by using libertarian values or borrowed values, our argument is faithful and enchored in our own values imbued in egalitarianism, 'Ubuntu.".
He said it is people's collective responsibility to safeguard these values and teach "our own children so that they don't have to think that our culture is hopeless, so that they don't have to hate themselves and their people, so that they don't have to fall away from the tree, for a branch cannot blossom without a tree."
