President Robert Mugabe has urged his supporters to get hold of people who use the name of the party to go about beating people forcing them to say forward with Mugabe.
Mugabe was speaking at his youth interface rally at Somhlolo stadium in Lupane.
"We hear that there are some people who go about beating people in the name of Zanu PF forcing people to chant slogan," Mugabe said.
"We will not allow thugs to soil our name. If you come across these people, get off the road get hold of them and beat them up. You do not have to wait for the police."
This come at a time when violence is reported by human rights organisations as having escalated as the nation draws close to the elections in 2018.
Mugabe's calls come as a shock with fears that his remarks will spark more violence in the country and his party members will take advantage of that to crush the opposition members.
