Hwange town is witnessing a surge in residential housing construction, signalling rapid urban growth and renewed hope for thousands on the council's waiting list.
Social media user CH Mukungunugwa described the development as "tremendous," citing strong public-private partnerships (PPPs) as the driving force behind the boom.

"Hwange is experiencing a housing construction boom, driven by strong PPPs. With roads, water, and sewer systems being developed on virgin land, the town is rapidly expanding to meet the national housing delivery target of one million units by year-end," Mukungunugwa posted.
He noted that over 17,000 residents remain on the council's waiting list, but ongoing projects - including 170 units from the Hwange Power Station Expansion and 600 new stands through council-banking partnerships - are offering renewed hope for decent, affordable housing.
