Crime did not pay for Sindumuzi Thusi, who has been jailed for robbery by Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
Thusi was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, with six months of the term suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The court heard that on 30 January at around 11pm, Thusi went to the home of 66‑year‑old Noma Ndlovu and began knocking vigorously on her door. Ndlovu initially refused to open, but Thusi allegedly threatened her until she complied.
Once inside, he assaulted her while demanding money. Thusi robbed Ndlovu of US$100, ZAR400 and her mobile phone.
Sheila Nyathi prosecuted.
