PLUMTREE – A 23‑year‑old man from Phumuza village has been remanded in custody after allegedly stabbing another villager during a confrontation over “disrespect”.
Mdumisi Tobongwana Moyo appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing an assault charge after he allegedly attacked Biganani Moyo (20) of Jijani Nkomo village in Bezu North.
Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that on 7 February 2026 at around 8pm, the accused arrived at a local shopping area armed with a sjambok and an okapi knife. He allegedly confronted the complainant, accusing him of disrespecting him and threatening to “stab and kill” him.
The court heard that Mdumisi then stabbed Biganani twice — once on the right arm and once in the chest — leaving him with additional lacerations on the face and left hand.
After the attack, the matter was reported to police and the complainant was taken to hospital for medical examination. The medical report will be produced in court as evidence.
Mdumisi was remanded in custody to 19 February for trial.
